Warringah Council supports the Every Australian Counts campaign

Hello!
Thank you for attending the recent forum to discuss the National Disability Insurance Scheme.  Your comments about the two Schemes and your personal experience added greatly to the evening, and I noticed that small groups were talking long after the forum finished.  To me, this was evidence of the importance of this topic.

Your intense interest in the subject was noticed, and last night a Mayoral Minute was offered to Council at its regular meeting.  The Council voted to:  “show its official support for the ‘Every Australian Counts’ Campaign and hence a National Disability Insurance Scheme through noting Council’s support and promoting the campaign on Council’s website”.  Warringah Council is the first council in New South Wales to host and formally support the Every Australian Counts campaign.

Already staff and residents of surrounding Local Government Areas are talking of how they can support the campaign, and we are so pleased that the groundswell is building.  At this moment, the campaign website indicates that 25,920 supporters exist.  This number will increase – and reflect the true impact of the proposal - as each of us take action and discuss the topic with friends and colleagues.  We trust that Council’s initiative leads our community to act on our commitment.

Regards, Marjorie Janz, Disability Information Officer, Warringah Council.
